Use a task to define one repeatable operation on product data. A task does nothing until you add it to a workflow and start that workflow for products.

## Choose a task type [#choose-a-task-type]

1. Open **Tasks**.
2. Select **New Task**.
3. Choose one of the four available task types:
   * **Translate** translates product content into a selected language.
   * **Template** generates product-description content from ordered template elements.
   * **Conversion** converts prices and can apply pricing and rounding rules.
   * **Custom** runs your prompt using the product fields you select.

## Expected result [#expected-result]

After you select a type and create it, the task appears in **Tasks** and is available in the **Workflow Builder**.

## Limits and choices [#limits-and-choices]

Task settings are reusable, so changing a task changes how that task behaves in future workflow runs. It does not change work that has already run. A task can be added more than once to a workflow if you deliberately need the same step twice.
