Import profiles
Reuse the same import destination, workflow, and import options across CopyHero and the browser extension.
Use Settings → Import profiles to save the import settings you use most often. A profile stores a destination, a workflow, and the import options that belong to it, so you configure them once instead of on every import. Profiles are account-wide and shared by CopyHero's import dialogs and the browser extension.
Prerequisites
- Sign in to the account whose imports you want to standardize.
- For a Shopify-store profile, connect the destination store first. See connect a Shopify store.
- For a Product Library profile, create the folders you want imports filed into.
Steps
- Open Settings → Import profiles.
- Select New profile, or select an existing row to edit it.
- On the Profile step, enter a Profile name, optionally turn on Use as default profile, and choose the Destination.
- Work through the remaining steps and select Continue after each one.
- Review the Confirm profile summary and select Save profile.
Every account always has at least one profile. The first time you open the manager, CopyHero creates a profile named Default for you.
Options
Destination
The Destination decides which imports a profile applies to and which steps the editor shows.
- Shopify store — steps are Profile, Import Options, Slideshow, Workflow, Confirmation. Pick a Default store, or leave Choose during import to select the store per import.
- Product Library — steps are Profile, Product Defaults, Workflow, Confirmation. Products are filed into the Product Library and nothing is pushed to Shopify.
Import Options (Shopify store profiles)
The Import Options step holds the same fields as the import drawer: Tags, Replace First Variant Image, Taxable, Active Status, Continue Selling When Out of Stock, Set Inventory Quantity (with Mode, Quantity or Min Stock and Max Stock, and Locations), Collections, Sales Channels, Set vendor & product type (with Vendor and Product Type), Rehost description images to Shopify CDN, Rename Image Filenames with its filename template, and the Generated images output format.
Slideshow (Shopify store profiles)
Select a slideshow template and how it is applied. Leave None selected to import without a slideshow.
Product Defaults (Product Library profiles)
Set Tags, optionally Set vendor and product type, and pick the Default folders that imports using this profile are filed into. Shopify push options stay disabled for a library profile.
Workflow
Optionally select the workflow that starts after an import using this profile. Shopify-store profiles can also select a metafield set on this step. Leave the workflow empty to import without starting one.
Default profile
Exactly one profile is the default. It carries the Default badge and is preselected in every compatible import dialog. To move the badge, open the row menu of another profile and select Set as default. You cannot switch the default off directly — make a different profile the default instead.
Order and row actions
The row menu offers Edit profile, Duplicate, Set as default, Move up, Move down, and Delete profile. The order you set here is the order profiles appear in, both in CopyHero and in the browser extension.
Use a profile during an import
Import dialogs show an Import profile selector and preselect your default profile. Only compatible profiles are offered: store imports list Shopify-store profiles, Product Library imports list library profiles.
- Selecting a profile re-seeds the dialog. Changes you make afterwards apply to that import only and never modify the saved profile.
- After the imported links are valid, select Skip to Import to keep the profile's values and jump straight to the confirmation step.
- On the final step, Save as Import Profile stores the current settings as a new profile. Saving does not start or close the running import.
Import profiles also seed the start-workflow dialog and the batch import from watched competitor stores.
Store-specific values
Collections, sales channels, and inventory locations belong to one Shopify store. If a profile is used with a different store — or its store was disconnected or deleted — CopyHero clears those values and shows a warning, so identifiers from one store are never sent to another. Select the values again for the store you are importing into.
Browser extension
The extension reads these profiles from your CopyHero account, so a profile only needs to be maintained here. The extension's Options page links back to this manager instead of keeping a second editable copy, and every import refreshes the selected profile before it starts. If an older extension install still holds local profiles, its Options page offers a one-time import; that import never overwrites or automatically merges profiles already stored in CopyHero. The offer disappears once those profiles are imported. A profile the import cannot create — because its store, workflow, slideshow template, or metafield set no longer exists — is listed separately and skipped; the others are still imported, and you can retry after fixing it.
Expected result
The profile appears in the list and is offered in every compatible import dialog. The default profile is preselected automatically.
If something goes wrong
- The last import profile cannot be deleted. The account always keeps at least one profile — create another one first.
- A revision conflict message. The profile was changed elsewhere, for example in another tab or from the extension. Reload the page and reapply your change.
- A referenced store, folder, workflow, slideshow template, or metafield set is not found. It was deleted or is no longer shared with you. Open the profile and select a replacement.
- A warning that store-specific values were cleared. This is expected when the profile's store and the import's store differ. Reselect collections, sales channels, and locations for the current store.
